Hydro-Refinement System

In a small village in Setu, Jakarta, people don't have proper access to clean drinkable water and electricity.
Inadequate & poor living conditions force many to consume unsanitary water.

These same conditions force them to pay for electricity that they can't afford for long.
These villagers do not have a sustainable source to access clean drinking water and electricity.

"All this time, the water contains sludge and iron, which makes the water extremely undrinkable."
- Pak Yoga
"Even to bathe, those particles are not always guaranteed to be clean."
Pak Yoga (a civil constructor living in Bantar Jati)
"We used to pay for refills and tokens from an electricity supplier company" - Pak Enang

Pak Enang (a truck driver living in Bantar Jati)
In an area that should have good access to water and electricity, we believed that something had to be done about this issue.

VISION
of hydro-refinement
An opportunity for all Indonesians to acquire the proper access to clean and affordable energy as well as clean and drinkable water.
MISSION
of hydro-refinement
To help accede a small village in Indonesia for a brighter future through constructing and providing an innovation of the future, the Hydro-refine System, to provide proper access to clean and affordable energy as well as clean and drinkable water.
Hydro-refinement machine
water filtration
The water filtration system is composed of 8 main parts:
1. Centrifugal pump
2. Mangan filter
3. Carbon filter
4. Large storage tank
5. Booster pump RO
6. Reverse Osmosis (RO) machine
7. Ultraviolet (UV) sterilizer
8. Pure water storage tank

First, the centrifugal pump pulls the groundwater which we are using as the water source, and then boosting that water into the filters.
The mangan filter gets rid of mangan particles which previously made the water yellow.

After that, the water goes through a carbon filter where it will get rid of the metal particles in the water.

The water goes to a 2000 liter water storage tank where now the clean water is stored and could be used for washing or bathing.

Next, it goes through the UV sterilizer where the pathogens and other harmful bacterias in the water are ‘burned’ using powerful ultraviolet lights.
The water then gets pumped into the reverse osmosis filter, where it gets filtered even more completely through a 5 micron filter and a 0.001 micron filter.

Meaning that any molecule (such as harmful pathogens) larger than 5 microns and 0.001 microns cannot pass through the filter.

The water ends up in a 450 liter storage tank, where it can be stored and then used for safe drinking.

electricity systems
The electricity system of the Hydro-Refinement machine is composed of 5 main parts:
1. Solar PV panel array
2. Solar charge controller
3. Batteries
4. DC to AC inverter
5. Distribution box

4 solar panels receive sunlight and turn it into usable direct current (DC) electricity, generating a watt peak (maximum) of 1,382 watts.

The solar charge controller is used to turn the other electricity system components on and off.

It acts as a protector, where it would stop sending electricity to the battery when that is full, or how it can protect the whole system from overloading when

Some of the electricity goes to the batteries. There are 4 batteries in total, which have a combined maximum 100 Ampere hours (100Ah) capacity for electricity.

The inverter is what turns the electricity from Direct current (DC) to Alternating Current (AC), because AC is what is required for the hydro-refinement system. It has a capacity for 1000watts.

After that, it goes to the distribution box, where by flicking switches, we can decide whether to send electricity to the hydro-refinement system (basically being able to turn it on and off).

A switch is used to turn on & off the Hydro-Refinement system, and another switch is to turn on & off the lights.

"Now, because there is this machine, the water is clean. The water can be used for bathing, or it can be used for drinking."
- Pak Yoga
"After the installation of this system, I don't use the national electricity service anymore, because the solar panel system is much more affordable".

"Now, the electricity is powered better & uses solar energy. It is more practical & efficient, Alhamdulillah."

- Pak Enang
